The USB (Universal Serial Bus) Swipe Reader is a compact magnetic stripe card reader with a single read head that conforms to ANSI/ISO standards. It¡¯s specially used for bank,commercial, post and securities etc.

The Reader is compatible with any device with a host USB interface. A card is read by sliding it, stripe down and facing the LED side, through the slot either forward or backward.

Usage steps:
1.The magcard reader connect to host with usb connector.
2. Open a txt document.
3. Swap card ,then data will display in the txt document. Because this usb is simulated keyboard protocol.

5. Indicator 2: Red , light on the wrong reader

3Not as advertised -- but  Feb 19, 2012

The price of the unit prompted me to give it a try. But it was a disappointment for several reasons; 1) They claim it reads three tracks, but in fact it only reads track two. 2) It is supposed to read mag stripes bidirectionally, but it only reads them in one direction. and 3) It has an audible beep each time it reads which is quite loud and can not be muted.

It does seem to read reliably, so if you only need track two output it might be okay for your needs.

UPDATE: The vendor agreed that the units description was in error, and gave me a partial credit on the amount I originally paid. They have revised the description to be more accurate. I appreciated their honesty. I have revised the star rating to 3 stars.
