The pictures represented a different item than what sent by HDE. I have added the appropriate pictures. Let me say, be sure you know you will be getting a $7 caddy. I buy many items direct from Hong Kong. By the product packaging, it was obviously a Chinese knock-off, very cheaply made unit. And I am writing all of this just on appearance. I have not even tested the thing yet. I hope it actually works for the one star I am giving it!
I would like to add that HDE, my seller, would not work with me on the shipping charges to send this knock-off, non-bezeled, cheaply manufactured, wrongly represented item back. I will warn anyone out there to not buy from HDE. How in the world should I be responsible for their irresponsibility, dishonesty, and lack of regard to the Amazon community? I will be filing this claim with Amazon.
UPDATE: The unit does work, but since testing I have found another problem with this knock off! What a piece. The underside of any of an ultrabay caddy has a locking mechanism for the ThinkPad to secure the peripheral into the system. This latch is released in the ThinkPad when you slide the eject switch on the system and allows the ultrabay device to slide out. Well guess what... this knock off unit doesn't have any type of latch lock. So the only think holding it in to your system is the SATA data and power port hold.
Oh, and thanks for updating the pictures to what people are really getting when they buy this. I noticed the wrong ones are now deleted!
bottom line - Don't buy this garbage if you are needing a long term drive solution for your ThinkPad. I would only buy this if you are looking for a quick adapter to pull data to and from 2½" drives. But why buy this when you could just get a cheap USB caddy and use it on ANY laptop or ANY desktop. What a rip.

My Thinkpad T410 has an SSD drive which is nice but it does not have nearly enough space so this hard drive caddy with a 500GB hard drive was the perfect solution. It's unbelievable that Lenovo charges 50 bucks for a "branded" one of these units when this one works just fine.

Works as anticipated: just plug in your drive and pop the caddy back into the thinkpad and it works (on my T410). Should note that it maxes out at 1.5 Gb/s and not 3 Gb/s that the T410 ultrabay should be capable of... Reason for dropping a star: wish they advertised that limit.
Arrived within a week of placing the order.

This product is frail and has exposed aluminum edges. Difficult to see in the image.
No LED to indicate activity.
Ejecting is dificult.
Considering the great quality of the laptop it's designed for, this is an insult in comparison.

Bought this for my T420 to use a second hard drive (So I can have both my Debian install and Windows on the secondary for the few times I need it). When I got it I realized that the T420 has a taller ultrabay than the T400 and the T410. It works, but it leaves a rather large gap, and the whole caddy bounces around a bit.
I wish I would have realized that the T420 has a simple ultrabay and not the slim ultrabay.
