4Unique color, so-so game, movie is DVD-quality but doesn't fit on 2 GB MS  Nov 26, 2009
By Michael Wang
Going by the package images I thought the unit was going to be an "off-white" color but it is in fact pearlescent (opalescent) white and under direct lighting or bright indirect lighting it does "sparkle" as the first reviewer stated though I would hardly consider it "glittery" myself and I think it's a really nice effect.

Under normal indirect lighting conditions it just looks off-white so it's not like it's sparkling all the time unless you happen to like playing under bright lights. This color is available in Japan but it's unique to this package here in the US (unless you import) and I actually much happier with the color of the unit than if it was just a regular white/off-white.

Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines is only a so-so game. Read the reviews if you aren't sure what to expect. The environments in Bloodlines have been trimmed down a lot compared to the original game (which isn't surprising given the limitations of the PSP) so the cities don't feel as "alive" or expansive as in the console game. The controls also suffer because of the lack of a second analog stick on the PSP. Normally in these sorts of 3rd-person 3D games the left analog stick controls your movement and the right analog stick controls your view but on the PSP you have to use the buttons in combination with a trigger button to have full control over your view which is very awkward.

For those that haven't played either of the console games you might actually enjoy the game play on Bloodlines more than somebody who has since you won't have experienced those things that wouldn't fit on the PSP.

The Angels & Demons PSN Voucher code is actually for the DVD-quality version of the movie (720 x 480 resolution, 16:9 anamorphic widescreen) rather than a UMD-quality version (480 x 272) which was a nice surprise. There's no extras though, so it's not like the version you can get on DVD. I downloaded it on my PS3 and am watching it on there which is nice but you can copy it to your PSP if you like. *However* the 2 GB Memory Stick PRO Duo the package comes with is too small to fit the movie as the movie is 2.2 GB in size so you can't download it from PSN on your PSP or watch it on there unless you have a larger Memory Stick to put it on.

I haven't tried using the Music Voucher yet so I can't comment on that part.

Overall I'm very happy with the purchase. I really like the PSP itself. It's not quite as well put together as my old original PSP (Model 1001) but the screen is nicer and the lighter weight and more RAM are nice too. And the Pearl White color definitely gives a subtle (unless you are always using it under bright lights) but unique look to the unit which I really like.

The "value" of the package, however, isn't as good as I originally thought it might be. I probably won't finish Bloodlines as I have a bunch of other games I would rather play first. I bought a Sony 16 GB Memory Stick PRO Duo to go along with this PSP as I wanted to take advantage of the ability now to buy and download games to the MS which was added to PSN to support the PSPgo (I find juggling UMDs a pain and they are slower) so the 2 GB MS isn't much use to me. So really I paid for the PSP and the movie, and the songs if I ever use that voucher, which if you value the Pearl White PSP the same as the regular Piano Black one isn't a good deal but it is one if you consider how much it would cost to buy a Pearl White PSP from an import shop.

If you think you will enjoy the game and can make good use of the 2 GB MS then the package is a very good value.

4A Great Value  Dec 05, 2009
By M. L. Citchens Jr. "lost among the pages"
I'm very excited to own this bundle, as I've been looking to get a PSP and I've been a longtime fan of the Assassin's Creed franchise, so I had to have this when I discovered it.

The PSP-3000 console is in a very unique color in that at arm's length it appears a pretty common white but at closer examination it has a shimmery finish. I wouldn't exactly call it glittery but it adds a nice effect. In general, I'm a fan of the 3000 model PSP, as it is the last model to still support the console's varied UMD library. The PSPgo - Piano Black has some impressive upgrades like Bluetooth and a larger integrated memory but the 3000 definately is the way to go if you already have a collection of UMD games or don't like having to download games. The included game includes a software update that's required to play it, but at the time of my purchase a new firmware upgrade was available over the internet. PS3 owners: The PSP can connect to your console via a private network or over the internet (through the PlayStation Network) to control some functions and play all your PsOne Classics. It's tricky to get set up, and the feature isn't quite up to its full potential, but it's useful for doing things like starting lengthy downloads or checking friend messages without being at home or in front of the TV.

The Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines game is a nifty little port of the classic series for the PSP. The basic gameplay elements are maintained, but the stunning graphics and cityscapes of the console titles is understandably absent. That being said, the graphics certainly aren't on the cutting edge of the PSP's capability. The controls are a little awkward at first after playing Assassin's Creed 2 for hours, but a little practice will get Altair to behave like what you're used to. The connectivity with Assassin's Creed II is more of an easter egg or cheat code than anything, but those who've advanced far enough in the console game will find that they unlock a weapon on Bloodlines that makes the game almost too easy. (You have to have the game loaded on both systems, and select "connect" on both systems from the extras menu on the console and on the upgrades menu on the handheld. a USB link is necessary.) Also, this game arrives in a small paper sleeve. I was mildly disappointed with not having a more durable case to store the UMD in, but this isn't a problem for owners of UMD cases.

The PSN voucher for Angels and Demons had a code that did not work initially. A call to SCEA's Customer Support resolved the issue within a couple of business days. The Angels & Demons movie is impressive quality, but as with most PSN downloads, no subtitles, no special features. The movie itself is an okay adaptation of an okay book. It lacks what tension and excitement the book had, and doesn't compare to the earlier "The Da Vinci Code." As mentioned by another reviewer, the digital copy will not fit on the device itself or on tne included Memory Stick Duo. It's not a title I'll watch more than a few times, so it's no loss to me to only have it stored on my PS3's hard drive. But keep this in mind before you buy.

The 2GB Memory Stick Duo is great to start off with, it was able to fit some game saves downloadable content fine. Anyone serious about downloading games off the PSN (incredibly convenient, and a wise choice for someone who might upgrade to a later download only model PSP)or carring music and videos will need either more memory sticks, a larger memory stick, or both. Swapping them out is easy, and they have a spot to write on them, so with the right case, carrying 3 or 4 memory sticks isn't too much bother.

Side note: There's also a voucher for some song downloads. I haven't used it yet so I can't comment on it.

5Awesome Package! Just a little warning before you buy!  Nov 25, 2009
By John A. Klaesius
I'd like to say first off before you buy this, the PSP itself, is SPARKLY white! Its not a flat white, it is a glittery white. Just glad I got it for my wife. So if you have a wife or girlfriend that wants one, then you should get them this one. More then likely she will give you the assassins creed game. Which is win win! My wife loves the PSP, and all the other stuff it comes with! Unfortunately, the PSP wifi doesn't work with my N wireless router. That is my wife's only complaint. Other then that, this would make an awesome gift! Everything is already in 1 package!

5Couldn't just wait.  Nov 12, 2010
By Akira Sasaki "Akira"
I already had a PSP 1000 (Fat) at that time, but couldn't wait to get my hands on a newer version.
Somehow, I was able to resist the temptation for the 2000, but couldn't stop myself from buying the 3000.

I didn't buy this from Amazon, so I can't tell you about the shipping, and etc.

However, I did buy this in-store, at my local GameStop...
and boy, was I happy.

The moment I got it, I practically went into a restaurant just to open it up.
As one of those who have a ceramic white PSP, I wasn't too thrilled about having another white PSP, but with the choices being either a white one, or a lilac colored Hannah Montana one (at that time), I quickly chose this one.

In fact, when I took out the PSP, I was a little bit shocked as to see that it didn't have the rough texture my old PSP had, but actually a smooth, pearly, iridescent kind of white.

If I tilted it in a certain way, you could see all these nice sparkles. It's not exactly like Edward-sparkly, but it's a really nice effect.

The rest of the reviews cover this; the entire package comes with a piece of paper that allows you to download the movie Angels and Demons, which I think, is a great movie. Not all time great, but just, you know, great.

Then there's the card for downloadable songs, which I also, have not used. Haha.
I'm pretty sure there are procedures to it, and I'm quite lazy.

Oh, then there's of course the manual to the PSP itself.

Ah. I forgot the most important thing of all.
The game.

The game Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines doesn't actually come in a hardcover case, but in a soft paper cover.
To a gamer who likes to show off all their titles, it's actually quite unsatisfying, but considering the fact that I have several friends who also buy these limited edition packages, it's fine now, because I've learned that they also do not get the hardcover casing.

Oh. The PSP comes with a battery pack that surprisingly, actually contains fully charged battery, but I have a habit of charging all my electronics to the max before using them.

There's also that 2GB Memory Card that is a fully authentic Sony device, but not enough for most gamers.
It's just not enough. If you're a seasoned gamer, you'll probably want to buy an 8GB or 16GB. Or maybe even a 32GB if you're really piling those games up. (You can download games now, did you know that?)

Beginner gamers should probably buy a 4GB, or stick with the 2GB.

Oh. Forgot to mention this. For all of y'all who want to hack this (homebrew or etc), please don't.
I got this with the highest firmware possible.

The firmware nowadays should be around 6.31 or higher.

A lot of games that you either download or their UMDs force you to upgrade, or you won't be able to play.

Oh, and if you're thinking of trading this in for money, GameStop might take it for $60 to $100, depending on its condition.

You can gift this to a friend or whatnot, 'cos not only is this a great buy, but it's limited edition. *winks*

(Though personally, I bought this for $199.99.)

4Assassin's Creed  Jan 10, 2010
By S. Knutson
Purchased this for my son, who is deployed in Afganistan. He wanted this unit for it's compact size and features. This PSP 3000 fits the bill and he enjoys playing Assassin's Creed.
