excellent barcode scanner Jan 31, 2011

This is a great handheld barcode scanner. Setup on a Mac is easy. Step 1: plug it into the USB slot. Step 2: use it. I'm not kidding it's that easy. If your software uses standard keyboard input, it will use this, because that's how it sends it's info - as a keyboard - and that's how the Macs sees it as a device. It also automatically senses an object it it's line of sight, lights up, and if it's a barcode, it reads it. The stand is a great asset - I highly recommend getting the unit with the stand. The only downside is the screws under the stand need some felt or something soft on them, because theey are so low, they will scratch the surface of whatever the stand is sitting on. Otherwise, I find this to be a fantastic device. Oh, by the way, it looks like a Symbol brand unit, but it's labeled "Farsun". I don't care what it's called - it's great.

Right out of the box - plugged into the USB port - and it was working. Been using it for a couple months without a hitch. I'm going to buy some more for our other computers because these save a lot of labor.
