I love this computer! Dec 08, 2010
By Betty Jo Colbert This is the first desktop computer, I have owned, that is exactly what it says it is. My last computer took my son(with a masters degree in computer science) several hours to set up. I am a dinosaur (68 years old) when it comes to computers and I was able to set the Gateway One up in less than an hour. Most of the time was spent disconnecting my old computer. All I had to do was plug it in with the cords from my other computer and voila! it worked. I love the fact that it is all in one and I don't have to deal with that ugly tower thing, and I didn't have to ask a grandson to help me. So easy and it works perfectly. The price was also a factor in choosing this computer, I priced it at several locations and found it online a couple of months ago running between $850-$1000.00. I found the best price was at Amazon. I am so proud of this old Grandma, I made a computer purchase on my own that worked out perfectly.

Great computer Mar 28, 2011

I bought this computer from Best Buy (for cheaper) a while back and absolutely love it. The touch screen isn't nearly as accurate as an Iphone, but I never use the touch screen anyways. The speed of the computer is great. The wireless mouse and keyboard give the computer a very sleek and stylish look. I'm shopping for a second computer for my room and am probably going to buy this one again.

don't buy it Mar 14, 2012
By buddy I too experienced the black screen issue, 10 months after purhase. Still under warranty, so I paid one way shipping to the repair facility in Temple, TX. Gateway paid to replace the motherboard, and paid the cost of return shipping. A few weeks later, black screen returned. This time, Gateway paid round trip shipping cost and replaced the mother board for the second time. Three weeks later, black screen again. This time, Gateway paid for round trip overnight shipping, and replaced the motherboard for the third time. Only had the computer back for 2 days since the third motherboard. Just waiting for the same problem to occur. Seems to be a common issue with this machine. I suspect most of the positive reviews of this machine were written shortly after purchase, and before the 10 to 12 month point at which the black screen problem seems to occur.

Do Not Buy This Item Mar 06, 2012

Purchased the product on February 16, 2011. The screen went black on February 17, 2012 - 1 day after warranty expired. Sent off to a repair center and was instructed that OEM parts were not available. Sent it back to me not-fixed. Every review is confirmed... motherboard overheats, ruins the video chip, then the motherboard. A new motherboard ($250) will fail in the same manner. Don't buy it, and don't waste your time repairing it. Unless you are willing to remove the back of the computer and operate without a case... perhaps that would keep it cool and running.
Gateway made a rotten product, won't back it up, and should be listed under the U.S. lemon law. If I could give less than a 1 star review, I would.

Bad design/quality problems Dec 14, 2011
By AnnaC Bought this computer in August 2010. Screen went black and wouldn't boot up in May 2011. Was under warranty, so they replaced the motherboard, and I got it back in June. Now in December, same thing. Took it back to Best Buy and they told me "so sorry, original warranty ran out in August". No warranty on replacement motherboard. If I want it fixed, I have to pay to ship it back ($80) and the replacement will probably cost me 80% of what I paid for the unit.
No more Gateway for me.
