4It Does Work for Mac  May 11, 2011
By uforce
I bought this interface so I could plug in directly to the computer. I have a MacBook Pro and it does work. I use Guitar Rig and Ampitube X-Gear. At first I was unable to get a sound. Tried to look for support in the PDF Manual just to find there is no comments or anything for Mac whatsoever. I was getting a little frustrated. After some google research, I found the answer, after running either of the programs I just mentioned go to midi prferences and select for input and output the usb interface and thats it! It worked! So after this tweek it does the job.

2drivers not great, doesn't work right away on XP  Nov 18, 2010
By M. Ryno
The included mini-disk doesn't seem to have all of its installation files loaded correctly and some components I installed say they're missing other things. After an hour or so of trying to get it to work with my guitar it still does not.

I have a sound card, so I'm probably going to go with a mini-amp to soundcard line-in. That costs more, so ideally if I can get this working it would be a good alternative on a budget -- I just don't think this solution will be without its own drawbacks as I'm finding out.

3Works well, lacking instructions  May 20, 2011
By Laurence B. Budd
This unit works well, allowing the player to input any straight guitar sound or already modified, which is nice. It comes with a mini disc to install the driver software. My imac with garageband does not accept mini discs, luckily the imac recognized it and it works. Therefore I cannot load the cool software features it comes with. There are no written instructions or tips, no website for an online manual, the maker assumed everyone can load a mini disc. It would be good for the makers to have a website listed on the box where the users can see a manual, tips, etc. It comes in one of those big clear plastic cards that will last forever in the landfill. It could come in a small paper box. So overall good product for a good price, but message to the manufacturers in China- Hey guys, it's not 1962 anymore- get rid of the clear plastic, and add some written instructions.

2Promises a lot, delivers a little  Mar 20, 2011
By KWest
I got one of these in hopes of finding a simple solution to get my guitar into my computer for recording. Then there was the temptation of having all kinds of cool effects and amp models to play with. My experience with modeling has been mostly disappointing, so I wasn't expecting a lot from a $20 unit. After wrestling it for a couple of hours to load the software (you get lots of error messages), I finally got to play with the models. The Jazz model, which I assume is based on a Roland, is pretty convincing. The Blackface and Tweed models are actually pretty good, at least on low volume settings, if that is your thing. The Marshall models, both Plexi and 800, are both completely useless. The controls are also hard to regulate with your mouse, but the when you try to get the famous cranked Marshall sound, you get a nasty low-mid distortion that cuts out and will only allow one note at a time. I found the best metal sound overall to be with one of the overdrive units, a 60 British cabinet and no amp model at all. On top of that, there is a hiss with all high gain settings that is unbearable. Needless to say, I was soon plugging back into my 30 watt Valvetronix and appreciating it more than I had before, but was still left with no way to get that sound into the computer. I guess my next purchase will be a good guitar recording mic.
