HDMI Solution For Apple TV Jul 22, 2011
By Donald W. Koenig If you want to hook up your AppleTV 2 to a standard definition set this is what you need. Your standard definition set will require s-video or rca type inputs. I have used this converter since February 2011 and I have not had a single problem. I highly recommend.

Does the job well. Jul 14, 2011
By Scott F. Mcgrath My first generation Mitsubishi HDTV does not have an HDMI input, though it does have digital, S-Video and Component.
This allowed me to hook up AppleTV (which is HDMI only now).
It works GREAT!

Outstanding May 22, 2011
By Mark S. Farmer This Works Great
I Have This Working by Routing My Tivo Thru A HDMI Switch, Then Thru A HDMI Splitter, Taking One HDMI Directly To My TV, The Other to Go Thru This Box To Convert It To Composite Then Convert It To RF, Then I Have That RF Going To All My TVs So I Can Watch The Same Channel In All Rooms.
Good Stuff.

For me, one significant issue Jan 19, 2012
By M. Knutson Let me first say that I didn't run into some of the issues other reviewers ran into. The package came quickly. The PAL/NTSC switch was clearly labelled. It turned on just fine. It came with cables.
My main purpose was to improve the connection I had between a WDTV Live and an older Sony WEGA television set. The WD has composite and HDMI outputs. The TV has composite, s-video and component inputs. Unfortunately, the common denominator is the composite connection, offering the poorest video quality. I wanted to find a way to do a bit better. I chose this device to try to connect to my television taking the higher quality output from the HDMI output of the WDTV, and convert it to s-video, for a slightly higher definition video experience.
This disappointed in 2 ways:
1. While the S-video output did in fact display on my TV, the quality was not noticeably different from the composite input. I tried several cables to see if the packaged s-video cable was to blame, and it made no difference.
2. The 16:9 signal on the HDMI output gets smashed into a 4:3 shape for delivery to the television. I could find no switch that would affect this, and it's not what I wanted. The WDTV preserves the aspect ration of the original signal on its composite output (with horizontal black bars), it should have been possible for the converter to do the same on its s-video output. I did test the HDMI output of the WDTV on a HDMI capable 16x9 television, and it does output the right aspect ratio.
#2 is a deal breaker for me.
In the end, I am retaining the device because it did what it said it would do, and I can use the audio outputs to drive a set of headphones, but it was a disappointment.

Worked with Apple TV Jan 05, 2012
By John Beckett This converter worked great to connect an AppleTV (the small black version) to an old CRT television. The AppleTV UI resized fine to display on the CRT.
