For it's price....it works!!!! Oct 09, 2011
By TEVA NOVA
The product didn't work for me straight out of the box. Instruction is not as clear. After fiddling around, I got it to work with my TV. The video composite OUT didn't work to my TV Video IN BUT it did work with my VCR Video IN....go figure. The menu allow various adjustment for sharpness, hue, contrast, zoom in and out, etc. which helps alot. Video looks good on TV...TEXT looks bad though. Don't expect to be surfing the web on your TV. You can adjust to clear the text but doing so will darking the video playback picture quality. Adjusting the video for best viewing quality will blur up the text. You can't expect everything to be perfect on an old school TV. I spent a good 2 hour fiddling with it to get how I wanted. For it's price, it is worth it.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW:
1. Use the USB power supply or it will not work.
2. There are 2 dip switches (1 and 2) for setting NTSC and PAl TV. You have to play with that to get it to work with your TV.
3. You will have a better chance getting it to work connecting straight to your VCR VIDEO IN than your TV VIDEO IN.

Make a t.v. into a monitor Apr 04, 2010
By Dave T. Allen
First alot of wires to get pluged in to a TV it has video wire, vga, usb (for power),and left & right sound. The picture is 480i or less so don't plan on reading with it has menu to make image fit your screen size but if you turn it off you have you do it all over again, gets old fast. WORKS GOOD and easy to hook up....

Works well and includes all wires you may need. Aug 25, 2011
This little thing is sweet! Great for presentations or watching movies. Take anywhere you can find a TV, Monitor or projector to hook your PC to. Now I can combine my laptop plus 2TB external hard drive and carry loads of shows or movies anywhere while utilizing a TV's bigger screen and much better sound than my laptop provides. If you attach to big screen monitor or high quality projector you will have super sized computer display but not if attached to regular tv due to most tv's low resolution. Doesn't come with detailed setup manual but manual does explain interfaces and is very easy to figure out. Very nice to see that it came with all wires needed for most any application including the stereo wires that plug into headphone jack on PC. Converter is powered by PC via included usb cable which means all wires go directly from PC to Converter to TV making it a self contained and straight forward hook up. Apparently this can output video from the AV composite, S-video and VGA ports simultaneously giving potential of three video screens at same time. I haven't tried it but I see where it could be useful. Overall, for watching video, I think you can't go wrong with this unit.

Tricky but eventually got it to work! Jan 05, 2012
PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW FOR A SIMPLE EXPLANATION OF THE ITEM AND HOW TO USE...
Four stars because for what it's worth, it works great. The lack of instructions made it frustrating to figure out and troubleshoot but I tried to write something in simple terms to maybe help someone else like me.
I was very pleased with this product for what I paid for it. I have an older tv (not a flat screen or newer one that has HDMI). Like many other people have already said, make sure to flip the 2 little white switches to the down position. Connect everything (the power, VGA, sound, and video cables) into the correct ports. I couldn't even get a picture but then I played around with what USB port I plugged the power cord into on my computer and one port was eventually the one that worked best. I didn't even bother playing around with the menu options because in my opinion they didn't really do much. You can't really expect great quality with the VGA going into an old tv.
One HUGEEEE suggestion to anyone wanting to get a device like this...GET A BETTER AUDIO CABLE!!!! One comes with this unit which is nice but makes a HUGE buzzing sound when connected. I wound up getting the Monster cables because they provided a better connection but still the buzzing (but quieter than included cable for audio). Plus, the included cable is only a foot or so long and the Monster cables are a couple feet which made it easier to plug in. What wound up getting rid of the buzzing for me was plugging the audio right into my sound system. I didn't plug them into the tv, vcr, or anything else. If you don't have a sound system, the buzzing is realllly annoying and loud and I would suggest just plugging in external speakers to your computer for the sound if you don't have the option to plug directly into central sound system.
Also, I played with just about every option I had and I can see the video fine but there are continuous horizontal scrolling lines going up the screen. Kind of annoying but once I got the buzzing to go away the lines really aren't that bad. You can't expect amazing quality from this thing but for watching tv shows or movies for fun it is not that bad.
Overall, this product is great for what I wanted (streaming videos/shows on my tv). Just remember to experiment with what USB port you plug the power into (weird but it was the solution for my video issue), plug everything in, put the 2 white switches down, make sure you put the computer resolution to 800x600 I believe or the lowest you can or else it won't work (it didn't for me).
I hope this helps anyone looking to purchase this item! I am overall happy with it!

HANDY LITTLE THING!!!!!! Aug 20, 2011
This item works great!
When I first got it in the mail I was worried that , like my last item, it would not have any instructions and would not work. I was greatly surprized that not only did it come with very detailed instructions for set up and for trouble shooting , but that it worked straight out of the box . I had to make one minor setting adjustment on the laptop to connect to a projector(which is found in the display settings in control panel) then it worked fine.
WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!!!!!!!!
