Spend more and get a product that actually works Apr 30, 2011
By Jeremy Gruman As other reviewers have pointed out, when installing a hard drive in this product, there is no way to secure the drive to the caddy (other than a few small plastic tabs, which are not nearly big enough to hold the drive in place). There is also no way to secure the caddy to the computer itself, so everything is held in place only by the bottom case of the computer keeping everything pressed together. This is surely not going to work out well. Also, there is no instruction manual and the product comes with 4 mysterious screws (that don't fit anywhere on the product or on a standard 2.5in hard drive). Spend more and buy an Optibay.
This thing is not great Jan 25, 2012
By James I had been looking for a drive caddy for my MacBook Pro for sometime, but couldn't bring myself to spend the $100 on the OWC caddy. I thought I would give this a try.....bad idea.
After waiting for this to arrive, I was anxious to get this installed to supplement my smaller 128GB SSD in my MBP. The construction quality is very low to start with, but I still tried to install. First, it just plan doesn't fit. Second, the hard drive does not fit securely. After messing with it for about 30 minutes, I took it out, put it back in the box and sent it back to the seller.
Don't let the price fool you, spend more and get a quality product instead of putting junk in your MacBook Pro.
Great product for the price Jun 13, 2011
By WhiteRyu The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because it doesn't really have a way of securing (not to be confused with keeping) your SSD. I personally put a OCZ Vertex 2 in it. Really great other than that. I used it in my Sony Vaio (VPCEA24FM). Slight tinkering to actually get it to work, but works like a charm. Not sure what the screws that came with it are for. They're much too big for the holes on this caddy.
